Catalyst is a site-specific light-art installation created for UPT Campus Creativ on the occasion of the Open Campus Night / European Researchers' Night. Inspired by the engineering legacy of Buckminster Fuller, vintage testing machinery, and the experimental drive of the academic environment, the project investigates concepts of center, orbit, and trajectory.

The installation manifests a distinct duality between day and night. During daylight hours, an imposing metallic superstructure composed of 120 steel members takes center stage, forming an icosahedron that approximates a sphere. This frame acts as a physical orbit of study, housing a mirrored center that distorts the surrounding space while remaining subtly elusive. At night, the outer steel frame fades into the background, allowing the core to illuminate and reveal a series of light beams suspended in mid-air.

By physically separating the light rays from their central emitter, Catalyst explores how an individual's trajectory relates to its point of origin, suggesting that the true significance of a center is often understood in retrospect as a process unfolds.
