 Free Radicals is an interactive digital artwork displayed on a 3x3-meter LED matrix, functioning as a real-time sensory laboratory that probes the fluid threshold between individualism and collective solidarity. Using dynamic simulation logic, the work models a chemical reaction and atmospheric particle cloud, evolving continuously based on spectator interaction within the exhibition space.



The system utilizes spatial data captured by a LiDAR camera to track movement and body position in real time. As visitors navigate the space, their physical kinetics generate turbulence within the simulation, altering the visual structure on the LED display.




This real-time reaction serves as a physical metaphor: drawing from the dual nature of biological free radicals—which aid immunity yet can also induce systemic decay—the piece likens the individual to an active agent in a broader social fabric. Citing Aaron Bastani’s Fully Automated Luxury Communism, Free Radicals frames personal freedom not as isolated autonomy, but as an interconnected phenomenon deeply bound up with the freedom of others.
